Where Do We Want To Retire?
I stumbled upon the article All 50 States Ranked: Worst to Best States to Retire In. The following list of states are not in any specific order.
These states are questionable and would require more investigation.
- 22: Arizona – I would prefer to be further North.
- 21: Michigan – A lot of waterfront property.
- 20: Missouri – We lived here in the past. The bad chiggers! The good hunting and fishing.
- 17: Texas – Not sure about this one at all.
- 16: Minnesota – Is the land of 1000 lakes.
- 8: Wisconsin – I included this for it’s rating.
These states are more favorable, at least to me.
- 35: Nevada – Lack of medical services is why this state is rated so poorly. However, if you live close to any of the state lines, the bordering states my have good medical services.
- 19: North Dakota – It is a Northern state with a low population.
- 12: Montana – I miss Montana. Montana and Colorado are my favorite states.
- 11: South Dakota – It is a Northern state with a low population.
- 9: Idaho – I have family here.
- 5: Wyoming – Cheap and it is a Northern state with a low population.
- 4: Utah – All the outdoor stuff to do, offroading and camping. Utah is somewhat a centralized location for our family. We both have family in Colorado and Idaho.
- 2: Colorado – Our birthplace. Oh and the mountains we love the mountains.
Then there is another twist, go full time in the RV! Shed most of our possessions, minimize our lives and just travel. This would not be easy, we have a lot of crap stuff. A slightly modified version of this would be to find a small parcel of land 2 – 10 acres and use it as a home base.
