A Jewelry Box for Mother’s Day

I am always untangling my wife’s necklaces, for her. I had been looking for something for her to hang the necklace’s, but never found anything quite fit what I wanted. So I came up with this idea. I also wanted to make her a music box and had purchased a music box mechanism a couple of months ago. So I just combined the two.

The box is made with poplar ebonized with black India ink. For the drawer front and cabinet doors I used curly maple. The drawer ended up narrow and deep so I built storage dividers that simply lift out, for storing earrings and rings. I plan on building ring storage that will sit in the bottom of the cabinet under the earrings.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there!
